Smart LPG - FAQ

Q: What is the fuel savings when driving a Smart LPG vs. a Petrol Smart?
A: The fuel savings per 5000 miles is approximately £250.00 based on urban driving, with the forecourt fuel prices of LPG at 36p/l vs. Petrol at 82.9p/l

Q: What is the range of a Smart LPG?
A: The range of a Smart LPG fortwo is approximately 225 miles per tank of LPG depending on the type of driving you do

Q: How long does the conversion to LPG take from start to finish?
A: The conversion take 5 days from pick-up to delivery. While we have your Smart, you can have one of ours if we have one available

Q: Is my LPG Smart 100% Congestion Charge Exempt when you deliver it to me after conversion?
A: Very soon after. You will recieve an LPGA conversion certificate on delivery, which you send to TFL with a completed Alternative Fuel Vehicle Exemption form and a copy of your V5, plus £10 admininstration charge. TFL aim to process your application within 7-10 days of receipt. You will receive a letter from TFL notifying you of your exemption, and from then you are C-Free!

Q: Is there a noticeable loss of performance?
A: No, not really. The loss of performance is normally 5% of bhp on LPG, but we have had many Smart Drivers, Auto Enthusiasts, and Press drive LPG Smarts and they have all been surprised at the lack of noticeable difference.

Q: Is LPG readily available? Where is my nearest filling station?
A: LPG widely available, with over 1400 filling stations in the UK.

Q: Is the LPG Smart available as a Cabrio convertible?
Answer: Yes, the LPG Smart Cabrio is available, and great car to drive in the summer & the rain (with the top up)!

Q: Can you convert any Smart Car?

Ar: We can convert any Smart fortwo (Coupe or Cabrio) 2003 or newer. Older Smarts have a different engine, and do not comply with Euro IV emissions guidelines, so they aren't clean enough. We have recently released the Smart LPG forfour, and will not be doing a Roadster conversion due to lack of space for the LPG tank.

Q:
Where does the LPG tank go in the LPG Smart? Does it still have a petrol tank?
A: The LPG tank is installed underneath the car, in the cavity between the floor and underbody cover. So no tank in the boot, and no impact in the interior of the vehicle. The petrol tank has been reduced in size to accomodate the LPG tank, and sits in the same space.
